In Paper Mario, whenever Goombario’s Tattle ability is activated, he attempts to assume a position behind Mario whenever he finishes talking. In one particular spot in the game, this can lead to an unintentional humorous scenario as seen in the footage.

In the bridge area of Mt. Rugged, Goombario will admit to having a fear of heights. If Mario faces him while next to a ledge, Goombario will say his Tattle and then walk off the ledge immediately afterwards.

The Nintendo Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door features a detail absent from the original GameCube version whereby enemies will laugh at Mario if he is hit by a stage hazard (e.g. a light falling from the ceiling) during battle.

The Shadow Queen has two animations meant to be used for this purpose, which do not appear during the battle against her. It is likely that the developers believed her personality was too serious, or the circumstances of the battle too dramatic, that her laughing at Mario getting hit by a falling bucket would not be tonally appropriate.

The left animation is not used at all, while the one on the right is used for a split second in the game’s credits.

Top: in Super Mario 64, catching the lower Ukiki in Tall, Tall Mountain will cause it to steal Mario’s hat (another way to cause it to have the hat is to let the wind blow it off Mario’s head, then leave and re-enter the course). Normally, it will try to dodge Mario by jumping to make catching it and retrieving the hat difficult.

However, it is possible with very unfortunate positioning to cause it to jump over Mario into the water, as seen here.

Bottom: doing so will cause the Ukiki to become stuck underwater, where Mario’s grabbing will no longer be able to pick it up. This makes the hat irretrievable on that visit to the area, with the player needing to either leave and then re-enter the course or to complete the secret slide to try again.
