Top: one of the concepts for an unused Wonder effect in Super Mario Bros. Wonder was Mario riding on top of a giant Goomba.

Bottom: a similar scenario has appeared in one of the event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee (though the Goomba there is merely a giant version of a Goomba trophy and as such inanimate). Whether the Wonder effect was created partially in reference to this or whether this is a complete coincidence is unknown.

Close-up view of a coin from the Yoshi’s Island Zone DLC for Sonic Lost World.

These are a faithful recreation of the highly stylized design of Yoshi coins as seen in the original manual for Yoshi’s Island and in fact the only high-quality 3D version of them that has been faithful so far; in contrast, e.g. the coins from the Yoshi’s Island track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass simply have a regular on-model Yoshi head on them.

In New Donk City in Super Mario Odyssey, there is a line of people in front of the Super Mario Bros. theater area. In Assist Mode, if Mario falls in front of the line, it is possible for Cappy to become stuck between them and the wall, hitting each of them in a row as shown in the footage.
