In level 1-4 of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, a Mario Easter egg exists on the side of a plane that is visible on screen only for a few frames and is seen only at an extremely oblique angle, which depicts a P-Wing from Super Mario Bros. 3.

Due to the autoscrolling nature of the level and the immense difficulty in spotting such a small piece of the environment so quickly, this was only discovered in 2024, 10 years after the game’s initial release.

Super Donkey Kong ‘99 is an unauthorized 1999 Donkey Kong platformer for the Sega Genesis based on Donkey Kong Country. While most versions of this game feature a single ending screen with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong standing on a flat plane in the darkness, a later release adds an animated ending where the two are shown to have a brief conversation in broken English.

The Vanilla Lake music track from Super Mario Kart has gone through three completely different revisions (that are known to the public via internal information that has surfaced over time), which is a rare occurrence as the majority of tracks in video games merely go through instrumentation and arrangement adjustments during development instead of having their melody completely scrapped and rewritten several times.

From 0:00 to 0:22 in the track: earliest version, dated April 1992
From 0:22 to 0:43: second version, likely from May 1992
From 0:43 to the end: final version, dated August 1992.

During the final battle in Super Mario Odyssey, it is possible to cause Bowser to fall off the stage by strategically pushing him with punches without actually dealing a hit. However, if he falls, he will simply jump back up, partially clipping through the stage, as seen in the footage.

This resembles Bowser’s behavior in Super Mario 64, where he will also jump back up from the abyss if thrown off without hitting a bomb - with the difference that in that game, this is an intended scenario, while it is merely a failsafe in Super Mario Odyssey.

Paper Mario features “miss” animations for enemy attacks that can only be seen when using the Close Call, Pretty Lucky or Lucky Day badges and the “lucky” message activating on that particular attack.

While most attacks simply go past Mario, for some attacks, special animations were created to create more humorous scenarios. If the lucky badges activate when a Bob-omb uses its exploding attack on Mario, it will trip and explode before reaching him, as shown in the footage.
