In Starshine Beach Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2, there is an invisible “produce a splash effect” field between the starting planet and the main planet. It is only meant to be accessed via a Launch Star to create a few splashes as Mario flies through.

If glitches are used to access the field without the Launch Star, such as by performing an infinite Yoshi flutter jump, it is revealed that it creates a new splash effect every frame that it is touched. As long as Mario and Yoshi are inside the field, they will be completely surrounded by bubbles as shown in the screenshot.

An official 2024 Japanese art book for the Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario RPG featured two groups of renders of the playable characters: a standing one on the front cover and a posing one on the inside cover.

The animation above flips between scans of the two pages.

As discussed in my Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door livestreams, there is an immensely rare event whereby Luigi would throw a rock at Mario. Finally, I have managed to obtain footage of it.

Please join me on the Supper Mario Broth Twitch channel for an analysis of the final chapter of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door!

Two of the main mechanics of Paper Mario: The Origami King can be bypassed using a single button each.

Top: pressing X to view Olivia’s hint during battles pauses the timer. This allows an unlimited amount of time for the player to think about the next move, greatly simplifying the battle system.

Bottom: pressing Y to access the item menu in the overworld, exiting the menu, walking for less than a second, and repeating this causes enemies to become stuck in place while their “noticing Mario” animation plays. This allows Mario to slowly walk around any overworld enemy in the game without them ever having a chance to actually approach him, resulting in skipping those battles.

Drawing made by Archie Comics to pitch a Super Mario comic (presumably of the same style as their long-running Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series) to Nintendo in 2009. The pitch was rejected.

In Mario Kart DS, Rocky Wrenches appear as obstacles on the Airship Fortress track. As only their upper half is intended to be seen when they pop up from the ground, their lower half is simply a mirrored version of the upper half.

Clipping the camera into the ground reveals the two-headed nature of the Rocky Wrenches.

In World D-4 of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, the Blue Bowser in the middle of the level (also known as “Bowser’s Brother” according to official Japanese character guides) acts in an extremely glitched way if Mario waits underneath his platform for a long enough time.

If he walks far enough to the right that he would fall off his platform, he will continue walking on air, but partially disappear instead. If he walks even further to the right, he will disappear fully and surprisingly walk in from offscreen to the left.

In the Super Mario 3D World game style of Super Mario Maker 2, Builder Mario is able to “pseudo-walljump” off of spiky walls by using his hammer right as he would touch the wall. This imparts him with enough backward momentum that he can use a nearby wall to gain a very small amount of additional height.

As seen in the footage, this can be used to very slowly and tediously scale a shaft where one side is completely covered in spikes.
