In Yoshi’s Story, performing a Ground Pound right before a fruit-carrying Shy Guy would reach a ledge may cause it to walk off the ledge, and even walk in mid-air in a glitched manner during this, when Shy Guys are normally not intended to walk off ledges. This will not work if the Shy Guy is not carrying fruit.

(Note that the Shy Guy in the footage also changes color when Yoshi performs a Ground Pound. This is not part of the glitch and is in fact a regular part of gameplay, used to get the Shy Guy to match the Yoshi’s color to give a higher number of points when eaten.)

Top: in Donkey Kong Country 2, the King Zing boss battle is played as Squawks the Parrot, who needs to hit King Zing with his egg projectiles. When the battle starts, Squawks is inside a “safe area” that is separated via a one-way wall from the boss arena - once exited, it cannot be reentered. Some players may realize that since King Zing cannot enter the safe area, but Squawk can shoot his projectiles out of it, is it possible to hit the boss while staying safe.

Bottom: however, any players that attempt this will experience an unwelcome surprise after King Zing reaches his final phase where he turns smaller. In this form, he will actually enter the safe area, which due to being narrow, has no room for Squawks to dodge, likely killing Squawks in the process. As such, it is necessary to exit the safe area in time before the final phase starts in order for this strategy to work.

The wall texture for Cool, Cool Mountain in Super Mario 64 is actually a very blurry image of ripples on the surface of water, taken from a texture library CD.

In the “Just My Type” microgame in WarioWare: Move It!, the player needs to spell a word in order to enter it into a browser search bar. When the word is spelled correctly, a brief victory scene plays where the “search results” are shown, which are a column of heavily blurred video thumbnails.

However, to the side of the thumbnails is one clearly visible ad graphic. There are nine different banners, of which one is chosen randomly, depicting characters from other microgames accompanied by gibberish text. Here are all the ad banners, extracted from the game’s files.

In Super Mario Galaxy, dialogue exists for Luigi during the “save Luigi” missions that is extremely unlikely to encounter by chance.

If Mario somehow manages to save Luigi but then falls into a black hole before collecting the Power Star, Luigi will mention that he heard a scream after Mario restarts the level and saves him again. Since the star spawns directly next to Luigi, the player would need to actively ignore it and do something else for this scenario to occur.

In Mario & Luigi: Brothership, a rare but severe glitch may occur whereby Luigi will enter a state where he looks like he is carrying something, by raising his arms over his head, but is not actually holding an object.

In this state, Luigi will not let Mario go into certain areas, by refusing to walk and instead calling for Mario to return as seen in the footage. As Luigi cannot “drop” the object or “pass it on” to Mario since he is not actually carrying anything, the only way to fix this state is to reset the game.

There have been two occasions on which Bowser’s airship has been shown to possess a large mechanical hand attached to a series of articulated pipes: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (top) and New Super Mario Bros. U/Luigi U/Deluxe (bottom).

Curiously, in both of these instances, the ship is left-handed. Whether this is a coincidence, or if the later example is a reference to the former, or if both of them are left-handed on purpose for some specific other reason, is unknown.

In the first Super Mario Maker, the physics of Super Mushrooms and Cape Feathers change if they emerge out of a vertical pipe, fall down onto a trampoline, and finally are eaten and spat out by Yoshi. The Cape Feather will behave like a Super Mushroom and slide along the ground, while the Super Mushroom will simply stay in place.
