Scan of the full sheet of official Super Mario Japan Post stamps from 2017. Note that this provides a better view of the stamps than the press release image issued by Japan Post, which is in lower resolution and also strikes out the text so that it cannot be printed out and used as stamps.

Top: at one point during Nintendo’s long history before becoming a video game company, one of the business ventures they partook in was starting a taxi company with a name that translates to “Diamond Taxi”.

Bottom: it is possible that Diamond Taxi, the taxi company Dribble and Spitz work for in the WarioWare series, could be a reference to this. In addition, the WarioWare series is very diligent in referencing Nintendo’s pre-video game history, featuring a large selection of their old products such as cards, the Love Tester and the Ultra Hand. Note however, that many businesses in Diamond City in the series start with the word “Diamond”, so this is also likely to be a complete coincidence.

“Stabs in the Dark” is an unlockable minigame in WarioWare: Twisted, being an infinite version of the “Stab in the Dark” microgame, whereby the player is tasked with tilting the samurai’s sword to deflect incoming attacks.

If the player is skillful enough to somehow reach 900 points, the minigame will reach its maximum speed, where samurai will continue attacking at a rate of 6.7 samurai per second. The game will then announce “You got it!” after the 999th samurai, then send one last 1000th samurai and auto-quit itself.

Development files for The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening contain early sprites for the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 2. Among them is an early sprite for Peach in the ending where she seems overly excited or even shocked about winning.

Top: the German name of the PC edutainment game Mario’s Early Years: Fun with Numbers (known in the UK as “Mario Teaches Sums”) is “Marios Rechenkünste” (“Mario’s Calculation Skills”).

Bottom: however, on the game’s language selection screen, this is humorously misspelled without the second “n” as “Marios Rechenküste”, which translates to “Mario’s Calculation Coast”.

Fittingly, the screen does depict an ocean with an island, which one could imagine to be the titular “Calculation Coast”. It is even possible that the artist tasked to make the logo graphic misread the original title as this but saw nothing wrong with it specifically due to the screen making the “coast” interpretation sound plausible.

In the Bumper Balls minigame in Mario Party, if two players are both about to fall off the platform, but one of them turns around and is bumped back by the other one, that character will fall through the platform, as seen with Wario in the footage.

This is due to the game considering all players that have crossed the boundary of the platform to have already lost, so it simply removes their ability to interact with the ground at that point.

Due to an error, it was at one point briefly possible to earn free money with a Yoshi game.

On January 8, 2020, an error in the pricing system at Target caused download codes for Yoshi’s Crafted World to be offered at a price of one dollar. In addition to getting the game, players were also able to claim 300 Gold Points, which could be redeemed for a 3-dollar discount on other purchases, essentially gaining 2 dollars worth of free money as a result of the transaction.

While thousands of users were able to get the game at this price, the error was noticed a few hours later and corrected, with any further codes being unable to be redeemed.
