In Super Mario World, various glitches exist that write values to unintended parts of memory, allowing extreme degrees of manipulation of the game.

While chaining many of them together can expand this ability even further and allow full control of the game so that it can be rewritten on the fly (called Arbitrary Code Manipulation, or ACE), even a single such glitch is enough to warp Mario directly to the credits and as such skip the entire game, as seen in the footage.

In the footage, Yoshi spits out an item while in a glitched state on a spinning platform, which has the effect of immediately loading the credits. As a humorous side effect, some parts of the credits, such as Mario’s walking animation, are loaded incorrectly, causing him to spin onto the scene instead of walking.

In most languages, the Colored Pencils boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King has a somewhat lengthy name he introduces himself with. In the English version, it is “Jean-Pierre Colored Pencils the 12th”.

The French translation, however, goes one step beyond the other versions and gives him an absurdly lengthy name that also forms an acronym if the individual names are taken as initials. The name is “Côme Raoul Aimé Yves Oscar Nicolas Siméon de Couleur”, where the first seven names spell out “C. R. A. Y. O. N. S. de Couleur”, French for “colored pencils”.

Level 5-4 of Yoshi’s Island, Sluggy the Unshaven’s Fort, contains a lengthy section that is supposed to be “autoscroll-like” as it contains no floor and Yoshi is intended to use a Support Ghost, a moving platform with a specific pattern of moving and stopping, to get across.

However, Yoshi’s maneuverability in this game is actually high enough that by using frame-perfect Flutter Jumps and bouncing off some of the flying enemies, it is possible to cross the entire section without using the Support Ghost and skip having to wait for its movement.

Unused extremely small seal-like character found in development files for Yoshi’s Island. While characters fitting into a standard 16x16 pixel square are common for other SNES games, Yoshi’s Island characters are usually larger, with even Shy Guys being 16x19 pixels.

In Super Mario Odyssey, it is possible to gain infinite height using two Chargin’ Chucks. If they are placed next to each other in two-player mode, then the Cappy player can simply alternate between capturing both, which will make them freeze in mid-air and rise slightly with each capture.

Given enough time, any arbitrary amount of height can be reached in this manner.

Super Mario 3D World contains an unlockable version of Mario Bros. (particularly the NES version) that replaces Mario with a second Luigi, called “Luigi Bros.”

Curiously, the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury files for Luigi Bros. contain lists of cheat codes for four NES games: The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Metroid, and Kid Icarus. There is obviously no way to activate these codes as the games themselves are missing, and no codes for Mario/Luigi Bros. itself (or any other Mario games) are included.
