Top: extremely early world map screen found within a recently surfaced prototype version of Hotel Mario. Note that the map shows eight Koopa hotels, not seven as famously stated in Bowser’s letter in the finished game.
Bottom: this plays into the “Iggy’s Cheese Hotel Theory” I have previously presented on the Supper Mario Broth twitter.com account, where various factors all seem to point towards an eighth deleted hotel, likely belonging to Iggy Koopa and possibly cheese-themed.

In the first level of the Macro Zone world in Super Mario Land 2, there is a cannon-shooting Dokanto ant enemy on top of blocks that can be destroyed with a Fire Flower.
If the blocks are destroyed with precise timing, the enemy will not fall down, and instead become stuck in mid-air while changing its direction every frame, appearing to “dance” as seen in the footage.

From a commercial for an official Canadian 2014 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze contest where the entrants were asked to estimate the number of bananas in a giant ice block.
In the footage, the host asks “how many bananas do you think are in there?”, before Donkey Kong hands him a calculator that reads “BANANAS”.

Green Marios and red Luigis are commonly seen on unauthorized Mario merchandise. However, on rare occasions, they can be seen on officially licensed products as well, such as this 1990 Super Mario Bros. toothbrush, which features a green Mario.

In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario must take a boat through lava to cross the second part of Corona Mountain. If Mario’s boat rams into a wall and he stands on its edge as it sinks into the lava, he will bypass the lava death check and end up under the surface.
Under the lava, Mario is completely safe and can run around the entire area in the darkness. However, there is unfortunately no way to use this to bypass the boat ride, as the death check will be applied when Mario exits the lava instead, causing him to die if he attempts to continue to the final platform.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a glitch enables Mario to kill an opponent twice with a single attack, but only if that opponent is at 999% damage and Shadow the Hedgehog is currently on the field.
When Shadow crouches down during his animation, Mario must throw the opponent (Kirby in the footage), causing him to be stuck in mid-air. From then, performing Mario’s Cape side special on the frozen opponent will cause him to die, as expected.
However, when Kirby respawns, he will also immediately die a second time as a side effect of the glitch. Note Kirby descending from the top of the screen near the end of the footage and then being tossed diagonally offscreen despite nothing touching him.

Prototype versions of Yoshi’s Island found in Nintendo development files contain graphics for an earlier version of Baby Mario where he was supposed to be a baby wizard for a brief period of development, which I have showcased in an earlier post.
One prototype uses regular Baby Mario graphics, but contains a single room in which he unexpectedly turns into the baby wizard. In addition, the baby wizard’s head is detached from his body in the manner shown in the screenshot, for unknown reasons.
